German metal band Powerwolf is back with the single “Beast Of Gévaudan” , the first from their new album Call Of The Wild , which will be released on July 9th.
“Beast Of Gévaudan” has received a lavishly produced music video that incorporates biblical references into its narrative, while the song traces a historical journey through France. Guitarist Matthew Greywolf commented on the track (via Blabbermouth ): “It’s about a mysterious beast that killed countless people in southern France at the end of the 18th century. The beast was never captured, and there have always been many legends surrounding the events, including the interpretation of the clergy, who saw the beast as a 'punishment from God' or even a 'savior of humanity from a worldly and sinful existence'.”
The guitarist also commented on the new album, Call Of The Wild , stating that it's opening a "new and exciting chapter" in Powerwolf's history. "Until now we've never sounded so powerful and wild, in the truest sense of the word. We can't wait to share this beastly album with you!", he affirmed.
Call Of The Wild will include a bonus disc called Missa Cantorem featuring Powerwolf hits recorded with the voices of friends and bandmates. Check out the full tracklist at the end of the post.
